Tap Repairs on the Gold Coast
A dripping tap is the job most people put off longest and the one that is quickest to fix. Most are sorted in a single visit with the right washer, spindle or cartridge.
About our tap repairs work
Traditional taps drip because the washer inside has hardened or the brass seat it presses against has worn a groove. Replacing the washer alone on a worn seat will get you a few weeks before the drip returns, which is why the seat needs checking at the same time.
Mixer taps work differently. They use a ceramic cartridge, and when it wears you get dripping, stiff movement or hot and cold not blending properly. Cartridges are brand and model specific, so a photo of the tap before we come out often saves a second trip.
High water pressure quietly shortens the life of every tap and fitting in the house. If washers keep failing, or you hear a bang when a tap shuts off, the pressure itself is worth looking at rather than continuing to replace parts.
Common causes
- Perished washers and O-rings
- A worn brass seat inside the tap body
- A ceramic cartridge at the end of its life
- Mineral build-up restricting the aerator or flow
- Corroded or seized spindles, common near the beach
- Loose mounting nuts under the sink or basin
- Mains pressure higher than the tapware is rated for
How Plumbino approaches the job
We check the tap type and what has actually failed rather than replacing parts on assumption.
Where the seat has worn, we re-seat it at the same time as fitting new washers so the repair lasts.
For mixers we identify the cartridge and fit the correct replacement, or advise replacement of the tap where parts are no longer available.
If we can see that pressure is contributing, we will tell you and explain what can be done about it.

Why it pays to sort it early
A steady drip wastes a surprising volume of water over a year, and a tap that is leaking around the spindle is often wetting the cabinet or wall behind it without anybody noticing. Neither gets better on its own.
